A Seaman or a seafarer is a person who work at ship/work at sea. He/she can be general worker or management level employee. All are seaman. Now, if you want to become a seaman, you must have two documents issued by government. A Seaman Service Book which is also known as SSB. There are different positions and ranks in this field such as ship electrician, master, chief engineer, captain, general purpose workers etc. To get a seaman service book, you need to pass the exam at marine mercantile department MMD Karachi, Pakistan.
